Yah he's actually in about half of the comics as his no armor form. It hasn't happened in the show, though. That's why the original toy for g1 was a repainted Optimus prime, and his trailer became his armor.
Ultra Magnus has had two kinds of appearances, one was just a white repaint of Optimus Prime, and the other one was his G1 Appearance. I guess this guy decided to incorporate both models of him into his artwork, which is amazing!
Yeah, you're correct. Fansproject made a figure of Ultra Magnus called "City Commander", which consisted of a trailer and the Classics Ultra Magnus Figure (a repaint of the Classics Optimus Prime). Basically the trailer that Magnus could use can be taken apart, and attached to the figure itself, making him into the G1 Appearance with the shoulder pads. It's pretty cool, and if you don't understand what I mean, look up "Transformers City Commander Transformation" on Youtube and you'll understand. The animation's just awesome!
why does everyone has to answer for the people i asked!? i said i remember! thats why he transforms into the same truck as optimus! have you seen the TFP series!?!?!?!?! ultra magnus has the same body a the old optimus but with the back, shoulders, and top chest upgraded!
That's something that hasn't been really explained. Because the original Ultra Magnus toy was just a remold of Optimus Prime. There have been attempts to explain such as the Dream Wave comics tried to make them brothers in a sense.
my info simply says that for the most part they share the same style of body frame, Magnus just wears extra armor (that's where his trailer goes). But yes they are often depicted as "brothers" they never really go into how Cybertronians can be related.
For clarity- when the toys were originally created, but before they were rebranded as "Transformers" for the US, what became Optimus Prime was originally a generic truck with multiple recolors. One recolor was white, and had special battle armor. When rebranded, this recolor became Ultra Magnus, but in the cartoon (which came later) he was never shown without the armor to prevent confusion. The comics did. This is based on the comics. Magnus looks like a white Optimus under the red and blue battle armor.
